Seaboard System Railroad was created in 1982 when CSX Corporation merged its subsidiaries Seaboard Coast Line and
Louisville &
Nashville. In 1985, Seaboard System in Georgia consisted of the former lines of Seaboard Coast Line, L&N, Georgia Railroad, Atlanta & West Point Railroad, and Gainesville Midland Railroad.
The Seaboard System name lasted only four years. In mid-1986, it became CSX Transportation.
A twin pack of Seaboard System Railroad playing cards. It contains two decks, one yellow border and one red border, still sealed in the cellophane. The plastic
holder has some bumps and scratches, but no cracks. The clear plastic lid is missing. Since Seaboard was a freight only railroad, they weren't giving these out to passengers.

The Seaboard Coast Line Railroad became Seaboard System Railroad as a result of a merger with the Louisville & Nashville Railroad (L&N). For some years prior to this, the SCL and L&N had been under the common ownership of a holding company, Seaboard Coast Line Industries (SCI), the company's railroad subsidiaries being collectively known as the Family Lines System which consisted of the L&N, SCL, Clinchfield and West Point Routes.
After the 1980 merger of SCL with the Chessie
System, the resulting CSX Corporation combined the Family Lines System units as the Seaboard System Railroad and later became CSX Transportation when the former Chessie units merged with the SCL in 1986.
Listed here are a twin pack of SCL / L&N playing cards. It contains two decks, one with a steam locomotive and a modern
SCL / L&N locomotive, the other has SCL / L&N train in a scenic view. Both decks are still sealed in the cellophane. The plastic holder has some bumps, scuffs and scratches, but no cracks. The clear plastic lid has some
bumps, scuffs, scratches, wear to the gold lettering in spots and one small gouge on the side, but no cracks. Since was a freight only railroad, they weren't giving these out to passengers. They could be an advertising item or promotional item given out by
salesmen.

Fred
Harvey Hotels Dining Menu. It has no rips or tears, just a tiny
bend or two from handling. I am no menu expert, but I think this
one's a reproduction. Most from a chain like Fred
Harvey were dated so the dining
room manager knew which one was the latest from the home office, this
one isn't. Second, there are no $ signs in front of the prices which
strikes me of a foreign reproduction makers carelessness. This is
still a nice collectible of an era of hospitality gone by. Many times the
repro becomes more rare than the originals.
